Robert Praas
Head of Applied AI
Robert leads Data Analytics and Applied AI at AI World, the observatory tracking the global development of AI. He coordinates the State of Open Source AI reports with Hugging Face and has advised the European Commission and the United Nations on AI investment, open source AI and the AI Act. He is an expert on the future of work, he works with Revelio Labs labour-market data and uses Lightcast skills data for Belgian Science Policy (Belspo) to advise the government on its ambition to become a globally competitive Smart AI Nation.
Robert's research has appeared in Nature's Scientific Data and at the Socially Responsible Language Modelling Research workshop at NeurIPS. He speaks regularly on building AI in Europe, European competitiveness and the generative AI value chain. An early adopter of agentic AI, he brings agent workflows into research, data science and AI governance, and leads the AI transformation at the Centre for European Policy Studies.
