Yi-Lightning

Yi-Lightning is built on a classical Transformer architecture optimized for computational efficiency. It utilizes techniques like 4-bit and 8-bit KV cache quantization, PagedAttention, and Dynamic Batching, allowing for faster inference while maintaining high-quality outputs. The model series includes parameter configurations such as 6 billion (6B) and 34 billion (34B), enabling flexibility for diverse applications, from lightweight personal use to enterprise-level deployments. The Yi models are trained on an extensive dataset of 3.1 trillion tokens, comprising both English and Chinese corpora. This training data focuses on textual content, drawing from diverse domains to ensure a broad contextual understanding. Finetuning is performed on a curated, high-quality instruction dataset, enhancing the model's ability to generate contextually appropriate and nuanced outputs. Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) ensures alignment with user intent, ethical standards, and cultural sensitivities, while fine-tuning improves performance on domain-specific tasks.
