Sundar Pichai is an Indian-American business executive and the CEO of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary, Google. Born in Chennai, India, Pichai earned degrees in engineering and materials science from Stanford before completing an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Joining Google in 2004, Pichai quickly rose through the ranks, initially leading product management for Google’s popular Chrome browser and later overseeing products such as Android and Google Search. He initially took on the role of CEO at Google in 2015. Later, in 2019, he was appointed CEO of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, following the restructuring where Larry Page and Sergey Brin stepped back from day-to-day operations. Since becoming CEO in 2015, Pichai has guided Google and Alphabet through pivotal advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cloud technology.
