AI World at the Economic Complexity workshop at Harvard Growth Lab

Harvard's Growth Lab kicked off its 2025 economic complexity workshop at the Kennedy School, drawing over 100 attendees and 20+ speakers from around the globe. The event, led by Ricardo Hausmann, founder and director of the Growth Lab, brought together researchers from leading universities such as Harvard, MIT, Utrecht University, Bocconi, and UC Berkeley, alongside representatives from major policy organizations including the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), European Commission, and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The workshop featured experts in the field including Ron Boschma, Andrea Morrison, Neave O'Clery, and Hyejin Youn, highlighting the growing intersection between academic research and applied policy work in economic complexity. Some of AI World's own team, including Pierre-Alexandre Balland, Carlos Navarrete, and Robert Praas, presented on topics surrounding economic complexity in connection with artificial intelligence, industrial recovery of Ukraine, and polarization.

The workshop highlights the global interest in economic complexity research and its practical applications for policy development across different regions.
