Last week, the San Francisco startup Cursor received a Series D funding round of 2.3B, with participation from some of its previous investors such as Accel, Thrive, Andreessen Horowitz and DST, to which with this new round were added Coatue, NVIDIA and Google.

Founded in 2022 by four former MIT students Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark and Aman Sanger, Cursor (Anysphere) is a code editor powered by AI, which performs editing, understanding, writing and debugging of code.

Its main product is its platform, a code editor powered by AI with the ability to edit, understand and create code using agents, which are capable of doing all of the above through the use of natural language. In addition, Cursor offers debugging tools with Bugbot, MCP to connect external sources, and some other prediction features with Tab.

After this funding, they expect to deepen their research technique in order to increase their reach in the area of programming agents.
