Airlines and airports lose billions each year due to delays and disruption on the apron. Many time-critical tasks take place simultaneously here, yet they are still coordinated using radios, spreadsheets and limited visibility.

Founded in 2018 by Christiaan Hen, Max Diez and Dmitry Chugreev, Assaia provides an AI platform that uses cameras and computer vision to monitor every aircraft turnaround, transforming video into operational data in real time. Its ApronAI and TurnaroundControl products detect the start and end of key tasks, flag safety violations, and forecast events such as off-block times. In practice, the system acts as a digital co-pilot for the ramp, optimising turnaround processes, improving safety by highlighting risky behaviour and reducing emissions by monitoring auxiliary power unit usage.

The Swiss company recently raised around $26.6 million in a Series B funding round led by Armira Growth, with participation from existing investors. The company plans to use the funding to scale its AI-driven turnaround and deepen integrations with airport systems.
