Biorce raises $52 million to accelerate clinical trial design with AI

February 2, 2026 - 1 min read

Despite the rapid evolution of medical science, the methodology behind clinical trials remains structurally inefficient, with the drug development process often spanning over a decade and incurring billions in costs.

Founded in 2024 by Pedro Coelho, Clara Bernardes, José Faria and Diogo Pisoeiro, Biorce offers an AI-native platform designed to streamline the most costly and time-consuming stages of medical research. Its proprietary engine, Aika, uses a large dataset of historical studies to automate the creation of trial protocols while ensuring patient safety and compliance with scientific standards. Early identification of regulatory hurdles and design risks ensures quicker and more reliable access to life-saving treatments.

The Barcelona-based start-up recently closed a $52 million Series A funding round, led by DST Global Partners and with further backing from Norrsken VC and YZR Capital, as well as several prominent angel investors. The funding will fuel the company's global expansion and further development of its product.
