Cambridge's Qureight closes $20M Series B to bring precision 3D imaging biomarkers to global clinical trials

Clinical trials for lung and heart diseases rely on measuring the effectiveness of treatments. The endpoints used to make this assessment, which are usually derived from chest imaging, must be validated against recognised disease biology. For biopharma companies, building and qualifying those imaging biomarkers in-house is time-consuming and expensive, and the infrastructure required to conduct imaging across multi-site global trials adds further operational complexity. Consequently, imaging, which should be one of the most informative sources of data in a trial, often becomes a bottleneck.

Qureight, a Cambridge-based company co-founded by Muhunthan Thillai and Alessandro Ruggiero, has developed an end-to-end imaging platform designed to support biopharma sponsors with their trial imaging needs. The platform operates across three integrated layers. The imaging CRO service manages image workflows across trial sites, enabling faster site activation and patient inclusion decisions. Deep-learning models trained on 3D chest scans generate AI biomarkers that measure compartment-level structural changes in lung tissue, producing precision endpoints grounded in observable disease activity rather than clinical assessment alone. Qureight also creates synthetic control arms based on real-world patient data for conditions such as IPF, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. This enables trial sponsors to reduce the size and cost of comparator arms without compromising statistical rigour.

Qureight has just closed a $20 million Series B round of funding, led by Molten Ventures and with participation from existing investors Hargreave Hale AIM VCT, XTX Ventures, Guinness Ventures, Meltwind and Ascension. This brings the company's total funding to over €27 million. The capital will support the development of new AI disease models in asthma, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis and drug-induced lung toxicity, as well as expansion into new markets.
