Construction AI start-up Sitegeist secures €4 million to automate high-risk building

Although the broader AI landscape has seen significant capital allocation toward software-centric solutions, the construction sector has remained underserved due to its dependence on manual labour and its high-risk working conditions.

Founded by Julian Hoffmann, Nicola Kolb, Claus Carste and Lena-Marie Patzmann, Sitegeist provides a modular robotic platform that aims to meet the complex demands of modern construction sites. The system integrates advanced AI with adaptable hardware, allowing contractors to automate repetitive and hazardous tasks. These technical breakthroughs reduce the physical strain on workers while improving overall site productivity, and the platform's versatility is matched by its ability to handle diverse site requirements.

The Munich-based start-up recently secured €4 million in pre-seed funding, co-led by OpenOcean and b2venture and with participation from other investors, including UnternehmerTUM and several angel investors. The company plans to use the new funding to speed up the development of its AI-driven robots and expand its network of construction partners.
