Finnish CurifyLabs closes €12M Series A to expand automated pharmaceutical compounding

Pharmaceutical compounding - the preparation of personalised medicines tailored to individual patients - is a precision-critical process that most pharmacies still perform by hand. Each preparation requires accurate weighing, mixing, and quality verification, with full documentation for regulatory audits. As demand for personalised medicines grows, particularly in paediatrics, geriatrics and specialist care, where standard dosages do not fit every patient, the manual model is becoming a constraint on pharmacy productivity and poses a compliance risk for operators who cannot automate their audit trails.

CurifyLabs, a Finnish health technology company founded in 2021 by Charlotta and Niklas Sandler Topelius, has developed an end-to-end automated pharmaceutical compounding system. Its product architecture, the Compounding System Solution, integrates proprietary software, GMP-manufactured excipient bases and 3D printing hardware into a single compounding workflow. Pharmacists use the software to select validated formulations or configure custom preparations, while the PharmaPrinter hardware carries out the compounding. Integrated quality control, automated labelling, digital batch records and audit trails are also generated as part of the process. The system complies with USP <795>, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 standards and can reduce compounding time by up to nine times compared to manual processes.

CurifyLabs has just closed a €12 million Series A round, co-led by Sandwater and HealthCap and also involving Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd.), existing investor Lifeline Ventures, and US-based customers and employees. This funding round follows a €6.7 million investment in May 2025, bringing the company's total funding to approximately €18.7 million. The capital will support US expansion, supply chain development, customer support, and continued product development.
