Industry faces growing pressure to automate dangerous and repetitive work, yet most robots are still task-specific machines that struggle in unstructured environments designed for humans.

Generative Bionics, which was spun off from the Italian Institute of Technology in 2024 by Daniele Pucci, Alessio Del Bue, Marco Maggiali, Andrea Pagnin, Davide Rota and Jeffrey Libshutz, is developing 'Physical AI' humanoids: human-centric robots that combine advanced mechatronics and AI. Designed to move, perceive, adapt and collaborate in human environments, these robots will perform high-intensity and hazardous tasks. Initially, these tasks will be in manufacturing and logistics, but roles in healthcare and services are also planned.

In December 2025, Generative Bionics closed a €70 million seed funding round led by CDP Venture Capital’s Artificial Intelligence Fund, with participation from AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, RoboIT and Tether. This funding will accelerate the development of its Physical AI stack and and scale its robots to industrial production.
