Greyparrot raises $27M to make waste data the infrastructure of the circular economy

Most recycling facilities have limited visibility of what is moving through their sorting lines. Waste composition data is usually obtained through manual sampling - a small proportion of the material flow is collected periodically and it takes days to produce the results. In an industry where material recovery rates directly affect revenue and regulatory compliance, this lack of information has a direct operational cost.

Greyparrot, a London-based company co-founded by Mikela Druckman, Ambarish Mitra and Nikola Sivacki, has developed an AI platform that replaces manual sampling with continuous, real-time monitoring. Camera units installed above conveyor belts can detect and classify materials such as plastics, fibres, metals, glass and packaging across more than 100 categories as they move through sorting lines. This data is fed into facility operations in real time, giving operators visibility into what is being recovered, lost and contaminated. The platform also serves brands directly: Greyparrot's Deepnest product provides packaging producers with a score indicating how their materials behave in real sorting systems, in line with Extended Producer Responsibility requirements and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.

Greyparrot has recently closed a $27 million Series B round of funding led by technology investor Omar Mir, bringing the company's total funding to $60 million. The capital will support expansion across North America and Europe, as well as growth of the team.
