Prevention has long been a stated priority for European health policy, yet most systems continue to function as if treatment were the default. The consequences are measurable: chronic disease is responsible for the vast majority of premature deaths across the continent, most of which existing evidence considers to be avoidable.
Lucis, a preventive health platform developed by Maxime Berthelot and Baptiste Debever in 2025, addresses this issue head on. The Lucis platform analyses over 110 blood biomarkers relating to metabolic health, hormones, cardiovascular risk, inflammation and nutritional status, accessed through a network of over 400 certified partner laboratories across France, the UK, Ireland, and Portugal. These results are then fed into an AI-powered health companion app, which provides personalised guidance on nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle, and follow-up testing. All recommendations are reviewed by a panel of healthcare professionals before being delivered to users. Longitudinal tracking is central to the model: as users retest over time, the platform builds a compounding personal health dataset that makes its insights progressively more precise.
The company recently closed a $20 million Series A funding round, led by Singular and with participation from General Catalyst, Y Combinator and other angel investors. This follows a $8M seed round that closed in December 2025, bringing the total funding to date to $28M. The capital will support the company's expansion into Spain, Germany and Italy by the end of 2026, as well as continued investment in personalisation and clinical safety infrastructure.
